Protege: The Battle for the Big Artista Break Season 2 : The Final Battle (Part 1)

Today's Protege:  The Final Battle composed of two parts.

The first part started with Ruru Madrid performed West Side Story together with Joshua Dionisio and Bea Binene.  This challenged was made by Judge Bert De Leon.

Judge Annette challenged Zandra Summer. She said that Zandra must show her versatility.  Zandra is second on stage with Sexbomb Dancers and Universal Motion Dancers.

Third on stage is Mikoy Morales, he danced in the tune of Singing in the Rain together with LJ Reyes.  Challenge was made by Judge Cherie Gil.

On the fourth spot, Thea Tolentino showcase her talent by singing "Rumor Has It by Adele" and acting together with Sheena Halili.  Again, this challenge was made by Judge Cherie Gil.

Fifth spot is Jeric Gonzales sings Mad World.  Judge Annette gave the challenge. She wants Jeric to show more of his talent in acting and singing.

Elle Ramirez performed as Sisa. She performed very good!  Challenge from Judge Joey De Leon.  Standing ovation was also shown from Judge Cherie Gil.

Based on today's performance, Judge Bert de Leon voted for Elle and Jeric; Judge Cherie Gil voted for Elle and Mikoy; Judge Annette Abrogar voted also Elle and Jeric, same goes to Judge Joey De Leon.

Dingdong Dantes also announced that starting today, there will be a 1 week voting to be used for the second part of the Protege:  The Final Battle.

Whoever wins the battle, winners will receive 2 million pesos from SM Supermalls, 2 bedroom condo home from Suntrust worth 7 million and exclusive management contract with GMA Artist Center.

Next Sunday will be the second part of the Protege:  The Final Battle.

Kris Bernal and Aljur Abrenica topbill "Coffee Prince"

Kapuso stars Aljur Abrenica and Kris Bernal teamed up again for the upcoming remake of "Coffee Prince" in GMA 7.

Coffee Prince is a love story involving Andy (played by Kris Bernal) who will portray as a man, while Aljur will portray the role of Arthur, a bachelor and owner of Coffee Prince (coffee shop) who will do everything just to get off all the dates his grandmother sets up for him.  Arthur will hire Andy and find himself attracted to her but Arthur thinks he is turning gay because of his feelings towards Andy.

Other casts are Tessie Tomas, Leo Martinez, Ronnie Henares, Ces Quesada, Boy2 Quizon, Steven Silva, Fabio Ide, Sef Cadayona, Kim Komatsu, and Ms. Celia Rodriguez.   It is set to air beginning September 24, 2012 directed by Ricky Davao.

Protege: The Battle for the Big Artista Break Season 2 : 4th Elimination Night

In today's gala night, the Proteges performed with their mentors together with their short clips.

It started with "Super Sweetheart" Thea Tolentino, Zandra Summer, the "Kembot Kitten" and mentor Gina Alajar with their video clip "Bruha".  They danced in the tune of Bad Romance.

Judge Annette Gozon-Abrogar gave her opinion:

Very different ang nakita ko ngayon kay Thea.  You can be a versatile actress.  Gusto ko makita kung kaya ni Zandra yung nakakaawa na role

Second performance was done by Jeric Gonzales, "Kilig Cutie", the "Chinito Charmer" Mikoy Morales together with their mentor "Jolina Magdangal" the expectant versatile mother. The short clip entitled "Kwintas".  They sang as a boy band group singing What Makes You Beautiful and I Want it that Way.

Judge Joey De Leon said,

Maganda, cute yung number niyo. Very nice!  Si Mikoy pwede lumabas na pilyo.  Si Jeric alam na lahat, pambida.

Third performers, the team of Roderick Paulate with his protege Elle Ramirez, the "Sexy Senorita" and Japs de Luna, "the Hataw Kid" with their short clip, "Jack and Poy".  They performed an interpretative dance while mentor Roderick Paulate sang "A Little Respect"

But before Judge Cherrie Gil commented, host Carla Abellana said "Happy Birthday" to Protege Japs De Luna.  Judge Cherrie Gil says,

Japs, today you are endearing.  You manage to make it on my top three.  Elle, I always followed you.  You are one who will make it in this competition.  You are in my top list! I wanna see you sing!

Fourth performance was done by Team Ricky Davao with his Protege Shelly Hipolito, "Kikay Babe" and Bryan Benedict, "Hot Hunk" with their short clip "Ninong".

Judge Bert de Leon gave his opinion

Congrats kasi nalabas mo kay Bryan yung pagiging action star na frustration mo, Shelly nalabas ang sexy and alluring side of her.  Medyo awkward ang dance moves mo Bryan kasi hiphop ka but the action stunts, right on! Kuha mo! 

Last performers was Ruru Madrid, "Pilyong Astig", Arny Ross "Dance Darling" with mentor Philip Salvador.      Their short clip entitled "Papa" and showed an interpretative dance "Because of You"

Judge Annette Gozon-Abrogar said,

Si Ruru, even if some of your moves are awkward, its part of your charm.  Arny medyo matured ka sa lahat, gusto ko makita yung youthfulness mo. Masyadong malakas

Judge Bert de Leon gave his opinion in the video, 

Si Ruru marunong siya umarte, si arny deficient dun pero nailabas mo

While Judge Cherrie Gil says

Arny ang emotion sa lyrical dance dapat sa moves nilalabas hindi sa mukha

A special number was held.  Proteges together with their mentors danced the number one Korean Hit dance "Oppa Gangnam Style"

The two hosts said the basis of today's elimination are the combination of judge's score and text votes.  They also announced that Bryan Benedict, Japs de Luna, Shelly Hipolito, Ruru Madrid and Arny Ross are in the bottom spot.

Ruru, you are safe.   Shelly your battle is still on.  Arny your battle ends tonight.  Thank you and goodbye.

During the weekdays of Inside Protege, production team together with Ms. Annette Gozon-Abrogar, set a meeting with all the mentors.  They apologized to the team and express their feelings of what happen during 5th gala night.

The mentors have to choose one (1) protege:  Mentor Ricky Davao chose Shelly Hipolito over Japs De Luna; mentor Gina Alajar chose Thea Tolentino over Jeric Gonzales and Arny Ross while mentor Jolina Magdangal chose Mikoy Morales over Zandra Summer and Brian Benedict; Elle Ramirez with mentor Roderick Paulate and Ruru Madrid with mentor Philip Salvador

Today's Protege Aftershock 6th Gala Night started with mentor Ricky Davao apologizing to the public and staff.

Gusto ko po liwanagin, hindi po kami nag walk out last Sunday, nag paalam po kami sa mga judges at production, wala po kaming gustong gawin gulo.  This week po nag meet na kami, medyo nashock lang po talaga kami.  Humihingi lang po kami ng pasensya kung meron po kami naoffend.  Pasensya na Dingdong dahil alam kong ikaw magcclose ng protege, ani ni Ricky Davao 

Judge  Annette Gozon-Abrogar gave her opinions about last week's events.  

We fully understand what happen last gala night, the emotions is terribly high.  We understand how you  are been attached to your protege.  

Judge Joey De Leon also gave his funny comment

Hindi nahirapan si Jolina na pumili dahil kamukha ng asawa ni Jolina si Mikoy

The night started with Jeric Gonzales and Thea Tolentino as the first performer.  It showed a short clip entitled "Baby Girl" and Jeric sings "If I Ain't Got You." .  After the performance, Judge Bert De Leon says, 

Kung pipili ako ng mentor, hindi kay Jolina at Roderick, Jeric, you are handsome, magaling kumanta, you've got everything going for you. you have all the makings of a star, except for acting.  Para manurture si Jeric at mas relax, personality to personality, kay mentor Ricky Davao dapat siya mapunta

Second performance was done by Mikoy Morales and Zandra Summer in a short clip "Ms. Promdi and danced with the song "Fighter".  Judge Cherrie Gil says,  

Zandra, I think you'll be very well handled by Ms Gina Alajar for you to strengthen your personality and acting.

The third performance was done by Shelly Hipolito and Japs De Luna dancing one of the song of Jabbawockeez  with a short clip "Maskara".  Judge  Annette Gozon-Abrogar says, 

You're not the prince charming type, ikaw yung badboy type. So ang makaka-harness niyan sayo si Mentor Phillip and my second choice is mentor Roderick because may chemistry sila ni Elle.

Fourth performance was made by Elle Ramirez and Brian Benedict with a short clip "Prom".  Judge Joey says

Ang tingin ko dito, bad boy to. Pwede ka kay Ipe. Pero kung bibigyan kita ng second mentor, kay Roderick ka.

The fifth and last performance was done by Ruru Madrid and Arny Ross with a short clip "Girlfriend".  Arny dance in the tune of Turning Tables.  Judge Bert de Leon says,

You can dance, there's no doubt about it. Pero nakukulangan ako pag umaarte ka. Because you're young, teenybopper ibibigay kita kay Jolina 

Special number was held during the gala night.  Mikoy, Shelly, Elle, Ruru and Thea singing Keep Holding On.

Now, the moment has come.  Mentors had to chose one protege to be with them.  Mentor Ricky Davao chose Brian to be with Shelly; Gina chose Zandra; Roderick chose Japs, Jolina chose Jeric and mentor Philip chose Arny.

The gala night ended with word of couragement from Mentor Philip Salvador

I  thank the Lord, napunta sakin si Arny. Hindi ko kayo iiwan ni Ruru hanggang dulo

Protege: The Battle for the Big Artista Break Season 2 5th Gala Night: A SHOCKING TWIST

Today's gala night is one of the most shocking episode that happened in the history of Protege.

Protege's performance today is really awesome.  Every duo presented their talents in singing and dancing, eventually do their best to make it perfect.

But here's the shocking twist and incident that happened in Protege.  The first shocking twist is the multiple elimination wherein four of them will be eliminated.  Dingdong Dantes announced that  Andres Vasquez, Vien Allan King, Steffi Pacheco, David John Llanas and Shelly Hipolito are in the bottom spot.  Dantes announced that Shelly is the one who will remained in the Protege. Many fans in worldwide web especially in Facebook and Twitter got shocked with this announcement.

   

 

The second shocking twist :  All the mentors are obliged to choose 1 protege.  The mentors showed shocking faces because they didn't expected this but eventually, Ricky Davao and other mentors decided not to chose and say sorry to all the judges and the production team of Protege.  He said that they didn't expect this and all the mentors are immediately walked out.  

Dantes announced that today's gala night is suspended because of this shocking MOMENT.

Protege: The Battle for the Big Artista Break Season 2 First Gala Night

From Top 20, Protege is now down to 15 finalist wherein 5 of them are already out.

Last Sunday, the judges revealed the bottom two of every region: Japs De Luna & Glenn Roy of North and Central Luzon; Kelly and Vien Allen King of Mega Manila; Arny Ross & Mykel Ong of South Luzon; Apple Vega & Ruru Madrid of Mindanao; Mitch Capili & Zandra Summer of Visayas.

During the first gala night, the finalist in bottom two showcased their talents in singing, dancing and acting.  It is very hard for the judges and the mentors to decide who will go home.  

And when the decision is already made up, Ricky Davao (mentor of North and Central Luzon) chose to save Japs De Luna over Glenn Roy

 

Jolina Magdangal (Visayas mentor) chose Zandra Summer over Mitch Capili

 

Roderick Paulate of Mega Manila save Vien Allen King than Kelly

 

Gina Alajar (mentor of South Luzon) save Arny Ross over Mykel Ong

  

and Philip Salvador (mentor of Mindanao) chose Ruru Madrid than Apple Vega

 

The judges and mentor told to everyone especially the 5 who ended their journey that "this competition is the not the end of the road, it's just the beginning.  Even though they lost their chance, still they are now part of showbizness and soon many opportunities will came up. 

The remaining 15 finalist will compete again for the second gala night this coming August 26, 2012.
