Zac Efron will visit Manila this September


High School Musical actor Zac Efron will visit Manila this coming September for Penshoppe's Annual Fan Conference.  Efron signed the contract as endorser last March.  He will going to visit Manila and meet his fans while working with Penshoppe.

According to Alex Mendoza, brand director of Penshoppe
“Team Penshoppe is very thankful to Zac for accepting our invitation to visit and meet his fans in the Philippines. Penshoppe FanCon 2012 starring Zac Efron will be our biggest event to date as we continue to bring Penshoppe to new levels"

Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles

Tiktik:  The Aswang Chronicles is one of the most highly projected action-horror movies this year directed by Erik Matti, a Filipino film maker nominated as Best Director.

The movie tackles about the aswang myth and they used finest state of the art technology, showcased the talents of the Filipino.  Tiktik  is a variation of the uniquely Filipino supernatural being called "aswang

The cast includes Lovi Poe, Dingdong Dantes, LJ Reyes, Mike Gayoso, Joey Marquez, Janice De Belen, Rina Reyes, Roi Vinzon and Ramon Bautista

The movie is set to open on October 17, 2012

Protege: The Battle for the Big Artista Break Season 2 4th Gala Night


Protege Top 15 performed their first short film together with Ms. Maricel Soriano.  Every team showed their acting skills in different genre of film.  The short film was directed by Brillante Mendoza.  

Andres Vasquez won the Maricel's Choice for Best Performance in Male category while Elle Ramirez in female category.  Director's Choice for Breakthrough Protege Performance also won by Andres Vasquez and Team Visayas won the Judges' Choice Best Acting Ensemble.  

 

When the bottom three announced which includes Reese Tayag, Vien Allan King and Japs de Luna, Reese Tayag ends her journey.

Derrick Monasterio : Ambassador of National Youth Comission




Last August 19, Derrick Monasterio, a certified Kapuso tween actor launched him as at Party Pilipinas as the new ambassador for National Youth Commission, also known as the NYC, a government agency in the Philippines that specifically addresses issues surrounding the Filipino youth. It was founded on June 30, 1995, via Republic Act 8044 or the Youth in Nation-Building Act.

Monasterio signed the contract last August 16 together with NYC Commission Earl P. Saavedra.

According to Derrick,
“Nakakatuwa naman po na ako ang napili nila out of the many young actors ngayon na puwede namang maging youth advocate din. (I'm really happy that they chose me as a Youth Advocate even though their are many young actors today)
According to Commission Saavedra, 
“We know that Derrick's character is definitely a good image of a typical Filipino youth."He is an example of somebody who shows to the young how they must conduct themselves.

Protege: The Battle for the Big Artista Break Season 2 First Gala Night

From Top 20, Protege is now down to 15 finalist wherein 5 of them are already out.



Last Sunday, the judges revealed the bottom two of every region: Japs De Luna & Glenn Roy of North and Central Luzon; Kelly and Vien Allen King of Mega Manila; Arny Ross & Mykel Ong of South Luzon; Apple Vega & Ruru Madrid of Mindanao; Mitch Capili & Zandra Summer of Visayas.

During the first gala night, the finalist in bottom two showcased their talents in singing, dancing and acting.  It is very hard for the judges and the mentors to decide who will go home.  

And when the decision is already made up, Ricky Davao (mentor of North and Central Luzon) chose to save Japs De Luna over Glenn Roy

 

Jolina Magdangal (Visayas mentor) chose Zandra Summer over Mitch Capili

 

Roderick Paulate of Mega Manila save Vien Allen King than Kelly

 

Gina Alajar (mentor of South Luzon) save Arny Ross over Mykel Ong

  

and Philip Salvador (mentor of Mindanao) chose Ruru Madrid than Apple Vega

 

The judges and mentor told to everyone especially the 5 who ended their journey that "this competition is the not the end of the road, it's just the beginning.  Even though they lost their chance, still they are now part of showbizness and soon many opportunities will came up. 

The remaining 15 finalist will compete again for the second gala night this coming August 26, 2012.

Miss China won the title of Miss World 2012

Miss China Wen Xia Yu won the title of Miss World 2012 held last Saturday at Dongsheng Fitness Center Stadium in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, China.

Wen Xia wants to become a music teacher. She loves hiking, traveling, singing, dancing and playing the piano and her favorite food is dumplings.

Actually, this is the second time that China won the title in their hometown.  Many people bashed the fanpage of Miss World and very disappointed to the results.  They say that Miss South Sudan is much deserving to the win the said title because of her answer during the Question and Answer portion.

Zsa Zsa Padilla diagnosed with stage 1 kidney cancer


After losing her "lovey" Dolphy, singer-actress Zsa Zsa Padilla is now facing another trial of her life.


According to the report from Joseph Pimentel, ABS-CBN North Hollywood, California, Zsa Zsa Padilla told ABS CBN news that she is now diagnosed with Stage 1 Kidney cancer.  She has a malignant growth the size of a golf ball inside her kidney told by her doctors at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, California.

“The first time I saw Dr. Folkes, he immediately told me it was malignant. So when I heard that word 'malignant,' I said, 'Oh man, I have cancer.’ I went back the next day for blood work and a scan and it showed the same thing -- almost a 3 centimeters growth -- and he advised for it to be taken out," Padilla said.
Zsa Zsa Padilla was born as Esperanza Padilla in 1964, the daughter of actor and sportsman Carlos “Sonny” Padilla, Jr. who served as the referee in the Ali-Frazier world heavyweight boxing match.  

Padilla known for her songs Hiram and Through the Years, the song she sung during the wake of Dolphy.
